The turn of a wheel, laboring against the clear turbulence of waters chilled by mountain snows. The arid sands, bathed by searing heats of a sun that no longer smiles. Each in want of the other....the cooling stream asking for warmth and the arid sands wanting waters that have not flowed for an age of eons. Life, in want of just another breath, another moment of sight, a sigh that does not signal the end of what was. Wishing for a sip of the chilled waters, for the comfort of a deserts warmth on a cool night as a distant howl chills the spine’s shiver and widens the heavy lid of a wary eye....waiting.... Will the billboard’s words be a final epitaph for a lone stranger shuffling dust and waiting for that gentle tap on a shoulder, just before time stopped and the lights dimmed... A single word on a darkened screen... “FINIS” [This message has been edited by Magnus (05-08-2006 10:26 PM).] |

actually, I screwed it up....."Finis" is the proper word....it is middle english, derived from Latin....means effectively "the end"... |

"Life, in want of just another breath, another moment of sight, a sigh that does not signal the end of what was" Barry I love this in it's entirety...made me want to leave my office job and go work on a dude ranch...Meet different people all the time and ride horses...now if that could happen on a tropical island I would have found my paradise. The timing of your poem coincides with my thoughts, Magnus. I felt a bit sad reading this because Life goes by so fast and often with more cold turbulence or heat than seems reasonable, one extreme to the next, highs and lows, beauty and rubble, joy and grief...the list goes on. It is more than nature, those challenges in life, and one can only hope for a hand that touches gently on the shoulder, to love and not walk through life in isolation. It seems like an analogy of love...not necessarily it's definition, but it's lessons. We all seek the places where it comes together in harmony, nes pas? ~Klassy |
