Distant drums could be beating, But I care not to listen anymore. Boys and girls could be meeting To dance gracefully across the floor, But I'll stay here contently alone. I feel not the gathering desire, And would rather rest right here, Nothing there can newly inspire, Exuberant youth can not bring cheer I'd prefer the calm of my home. Musical memories haunt my thought Reflecting in these silent shadows, I didn't catch or became sweetly caught, But remained behind drawn windows, Staying here still contently alone. Gloom |

a mournful tune, Gloom hearing a song of cold dampness solitary by choice is still a lonely place yet can have its own rewards |

Ambrose Bierce would enjoy this one. Melancholy at it's finest. Thanks for sharing. ~Liz...Carpe Diem |
