 Artist: Bob Desantis Pen In Hand ~ Linda L. Dowd ~ In the wind-down of my day, As the sun slipped out of sight, I reflected on my blessings And then began to write. It began with the rise of sun, Peeking o’er the distant hills. ~Choirs of frogs ‘n crickets And songs of whippoorwills ~A turtle stretching on warm rock, Soaking up some sunny rays. And in the daisy meadow, Wooly sheep did graze and laze. Blossoms on the cherry trees, Were coming into bloom. The orchard was a blaze of pink, In sunshine’s afternoon. Clear skies were a crystal blue, ~Reflecting nearby lake. I looked on in wonder, As my senses did awake. The orioles were singing, Willows swayed in summer breeze. Floral gardens were abuzzin’, With the drone of hummin’ bees. A hawk was slowly circling, Above an old oak tree. I was lost in its graceful flight, In a peaceful reverie. As the glorious sun was setting, A hush befell the land. My heart was full of gratitude, As I put writing pen in hand. “Oft times it is the deaf who truly hear and it is the blind who truly see.” ~ Linda L.
