Underling

Thoroughly, I have grown into sunset
Gathering the visions of earth and sky
Mingling the pleasures of you and I
Gratified to feel the ease of evening

Taking chances as alliterated stars
In this garden as you shine to please
Counting blessings on my knees
Shining down upon me

The echo of you plays inside my heart
My breath is vapor to the night
Endless velvet dreams to write
Plays, as chimes so wholesome, holy

Eager for the sleep that holds you close
Goodness that anticipates the dawn
Admiration held in love so long
Keen to contour in your slight of hand

Happiness has found its way
Closing eyes against another day
Breathing in the rhythm of your sleep
Far and wide your own, my soul to keep
