The Notebook

Our Love
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

Our love soars unencumbered,
above the mountains high.
Aloft on wings impassioned,
into clear cerulean sky.
It’s purer than the driven snows,
that face the Arctic poles.
It’s the unifying force,
of our integrating souls.

“We are borne of star dust,
and to the stars we shall one day return.”
~ Linda L. Dowd

Well, this one didn't make me smile as much as it made me wonder and long. "It’s the unifying force, of our integrating souls." This is so true, and it's never been more appropriate to sign off as I usually do, with..

And what an amazing force it can be - most just don't realize it.
Beautiful poem, Linda!

Bunches of Honey ~

It is near impossible to comprehend until one experiences it!

With each passing year, I feel more blessed!

When my marriage ended, I thought that I could never replace what we once had had. Surprise! A glorious new road opened up to me and I am enjoying the journey!

Happy love trails to you, Dear Helen!

Loves 'n hugs,

A few minutes ago in another poem, I was hurting for you.  I am very happy now, to be happy for you.  Sorry to hear about the lows, though.  But with a love such as this, I am sure they don't last long.  You deserve so much happiness, and it is wonderful that you have it now.

Happy Easter lily jo!

I adore that pic as well! It captured the kind of all-encompassing passionate love that I was trying to express through the written word. I showed it to Alan and he said I should have used a photo of he and I! So, here it is! Spaghetti Smooch

Sending love to you and your family,

Owl, I love loving, compassionate people ~ and you most definitely are one of them. I suppose I should have qualified my "Deep Sorrows" with the fact that although I have experienced them, I am not in that place now. You are so sweet.

Giving you a big, loving hug,

Another very pretty poem deeply felt and well articulated - you have a great talent for words and their combinations. I do not want to be picky, but I listen to my ear and it suggests a very minor change:

Our love soars unencumbered,
above the mountains high.
Aloft on wings impassioned,
into clear cerulean sky.
It’s purer than the driven snows,
that face the Arctic poles.
It’s the unifying force,
of our integrating souls.

I hope that you don't mind my doing this, but it is such a pretty poem and that extra syllable ("high") detracts from its beauty.

Hi, Les! No, I don't mind you making suggestions at all. However, this time, to my ear, the word "high" works well ~ and besides, it rhymes with "sky"! lol

Thank you for your kind comments about my poetry!

I hope you enjoy being a part of this family of kindred poets as much as I do!

I have been where you are now and you are so correct! Nothing can replace the exuberance
a new true love can gift you. A state of euphoria you never knew exsisted. Energey and imagination you never felt before. All combine to keep you in a state of estacy and ebullient excitement. Second love can be exceptionaly exciting, no matter what the age. I am here to exclaim and edify this fact..

Hi EA,

Thank you for the nice words welcoming me to this family of poets. I apologize for my error concerning the extra syllable, it was not the word high but the first word of the line "far," that I was suggesting that you should drop. My copy of your poem incorporates the correct suggestion. So instead of "far above the mountains high," I was suggesting "above the mountains high." I certainly agree with you that the word "high" is important and it rhymes with sky and must be retained.

Hey, Les! You'd make a great editor! I do agree with your suggestion! ~ and I just deleted "far". You're right! Now it flows smoothly!

Soon you're going to be charging me for your editing suggestions! Flirty

Hi EA,

I would never charge you for editing - after all, what would I do with all that money? But I am glad that you did not mind my suggestion and I am glad that you agree that the poem flows better. Although I am not a poet, I have always loved poetry and have translated a number of poems from my native Hungarian as well as from one of my favorite German/Bohemian/Chech poet, Rainer Maria Rilke. He was an unbelievably talented poet.

I have yet to see "The Notebook" this was such an emotional write..it makes my heart ache..for many reasons..I'm not lacking love but I can't put it into words.  I am spellbound with certain poets and you happen to be one of them.  Because you speak with your heart.
