God’s Ensign

12 April 2006

Would she ever understand
or was distance, God’s mercy
Did she know, the truth can be pain
an uncomfortable feeling
that understanding, Tammy by name

Her heart, her soul, her eyes
each inch of her metric being
Eyes blind, eyes open
eyes for her, blue in seeing

Did she know
how special she was
How much kindness
she could in Him obtain
Did she know, this was the pain

God’s mercy, God’s understanding
two spirits across a world
Did she want to understand
this ensign, which was for her

“Verily I say unto you all: Arise and shine forth, that thy light
may be a standard for the nations; And that the gathering
together upon the land of Zion, and upon her stakes, may be
for a defence, and refuge from the storm, and from wrath when
it shall be poured out without mixture upon the whole earth.”
Doctrine and Covenants 115: 5-6
