I found this today inside one of many notebooks whose pages have yellowed with time. I figured...What the heck. I've posted just about everything else I've written. Magic Bottle Blues The sun went down on a long dark day. All I do is frown since m'baby went away. Sittin' on the floor Tryin' to write a song. Baby slammed the door and the nights grew long. Rain drippin' through my ceilin' Fillin' up my bucket The way that I been feelin' I oughta take my life and chuck it. To ease the pain, I cant find a thing I guess they'll find me hangin' from a guitar string. Sittin' on the floor Wonderin' what to do. An empty bottle and a guitar and a picture of you. You're a pretty little thing by the candle flames flicker. But you ran outta patience Now I've run outta liquor Spin the magic bottle Give it a twirl... 'round and around It's a mean ol' world. The bottle points to yo' picture lyin' there on the floor Now you and me and the bottle Don't go 'round anymore I aint gotta thing to feel good about Baby left me and the magic ran out. Hey Magic Bottle... tell ya what to do... Make the world stop turnin' It's as empty as you. Spin the magic bottle Give it a twirl 'round and around and around and 'round and 'round and around It's a mean ol' world. |

Thanks Uriah, they used to say the guy who took the first drink from a bottle drank the little devils off it. I can't say that's true as I found there were still plenty of little devils at the bottom. :-) |

I can relate too well, I'm afraid. But good thing is, time goes by...flames give way to ashes, and rebuilding can begin. |
