Hollywood Blue

Hollywood turned blue
over the hills, sweaty CEOs suffer for you
I'm here, baby
I feel like a footprint on 7th Avenue
and I'm crushing like a cigarette
rushing headlong into you
I can't help it
I'm selfish

The buzz in my brain is true
and I'm counting up heartbeats to get to you
it's like a nuclear war
the grey-black emotions I'm shipwrecked upon
I'm helpless in the midst of red lights
I just need a sweet smile and a shot in the arm
I'm happy
but not for me

My bed smells like you
it's as fair is a knife in the back
what you said isn't true
my love was never an act
put on for the sake of saving face
up and down Bellagio I pace
looking for the saint in you
a busride blurs the morning dew
and I can't resist it at all
I trace the faint shadow of a kiss on my cheek
give me a call
give me a chance to explain, I'm getting weak
I hunger
I hunger for you

Hollywood blue is like...
oh, what's it like to me?
A tire on fire in the rain
driving seagulls insane
what's it like to feel like me?

Oh no, don't look now
I need your stupid heart
get through somehow
and we can get back to the start
ah, let's rip it all apart
and throw it at the stars
but you can't see them
the pollution moon is in my way
I guess that's all I can love on a lonesome Sunday

Down to the gutter with me
down to the bottom of the sea
and you can't see
honey eyes, just give it a little time
it's an icy freeway
and blazing true love can't stop on a dime
I don't want to hurt
and what's more, I don't want to hurt you

Hollywood blue calling
I'm dripping off the ceiling
and the sun hides in the west
is this real or just a test,
and what'll tomorrow bring

Ah, but don't you look now
I'm needing your warmth
and to get through somehow
out of my mind and into your heart
let's rip it all apart for a new start
I'm counting all the cars
that race away to discover spring
the greening of me is underway
I guess that's all I can write about on a ragged Monday

C'mon now
get through somehow
Hollywood blue is calling to you
and so am I
transform my cries
into clouds in the sky
you won't die if you give it a try
I feel like a drumbeat on 7th Avenue
peeling my eyes for you
to brighten in Hollywood blue
