Aspirations We want that which we cannot have We search for what we cannot see We strive to reach a higher rung On ladders of uncertainty We make attempts to comprehend What we will never understand We reach for what we cannot touch Beyond the fingertips of man We yearn for what is not yet ours We ache for an inherent gift We long for life that’s not yet born And cherish moments not yet lived We have desires to somehow know The resolution of our fate Our tongues dispute in vibrant tones A Truth that no one can debate We seek, but we cannot attain That level far beyond our scope Yet futile is an earthly cure To dull the grief, to nourish hope The best that we can do is strive To grow in faith consistently And reach for what we cannot touch - The Light of God’s Divinity Elizabeth Santos |
