When his life got wrecked there was no crash No screeching tires No broken glass Just muffled tears only his heart could hear. Most don't walk too close to his shattered dreams. They're frightened by his tattered seams. They will not spare a dime or lend an ear. But, their little acts of kindness make the world a better place. They always bring the dog in when its cold. They tote the barge and lift the bales to plant a tree and save the whales. Those little selfless acts soothe their soul. I know I've seen them feeding red birds in the snow. They feel the pavement beneath their feet But somehow never touch "the street". Their Spirit Guides don't hover that far down. They feed the squirrels and adopt a pet. Take a stray pup to the vet and at Christmas drop a quarter on the ground. Tis the Season... Love in the air... Little acts that show they care. The coat he got last year is thin and torn. Its kind and sweet The gifts they give But he has to eat He has to live eleven months before New Hope is born. Peace on Earth Good Will to Man Will finally come around again. Baby Jesus will live within their hearts. It's a crying shame that he's so prone to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. He'll disappear before the New Year starts. |
