Again Now cautiously The calendar approaches The day you were born A smooth stone In the lawn Surrounded by flowers Cool with a tint of blue Under the shadows Of a nearby tree You would hope by now Even the unconsciousness With practiced indifference Would pass without comment Too busy to notice or pause And yet that stillness Begins to fill the evening hours Dawn comes with mists Mysteriously lingering As if looking for someone Who isn’t there |
