Here on quiet mountain

where I am owned

by dawn reflecting copper rock

and this raw umber earth

familiar with my press of naked toes

I visit arms stretched over time

in greeting never needing reason

washed in change of season without care

the past as real as present slip of morning

bird in freedom flight and frantic call

over thousands bloomed

in poppied flower exaltation

flashing orange twirls in wind

sun stabbing back of eyes

to stir echoes of my tears

I found again a day of carried memory

and bittersweet of joy

Beautifully captured!

You caught the spirit and some of the truth....that's as good as it gets.

Oh, and who is it? I'll let the rest of 'em talk about that......

This is absolutely gorgeous writing!  My first guess is Martie, as well.  However, I have read the Ratleader sounding like this sometimes, so that would be my second guess.  There are a couple of others that I'm debating about, but those are my top two matches.  In any case, this is a keeper of a poem!   ...jo

I believe its Ratleader, but it could be Martie.  Wonderful writing.

On re-reading, there's a possibility this could be Midnitesun, as well.  I'm baffled because this poem is about a beautiful free spirit and there are so many here.  I still think it could be Martie first, Ratleader next, then Midnitesun?

I'm going with Martie..
But...then again....
I may be wrong.
Well done..love the piece.

In the midst of winter,
I found there lives within me..
An invincible summer.

Thankyou C...I know this is me...can see the reflection of feelings in the mountain the poppy and the bird.  Thank you for writing such a beautiful poem....you must be the one that stole my muse, as she left me rather suddenly.  Thanks again for seeing into my words.

WOW - someone did Martie  *grin*

I can think of no other who would be able to step up to that, besides maybe wranx, cpat, Karen or Maree.

Beautiful job.

Ah, you captured our Martie...
almost...

because it is hard to capture
flight.

I've been away, and you've already guessed martie, but I knew it was she right away. You did her very well. It's a lovely poem.

An absolutely beautiful write, icebox...

and you've captured Martie wonderfully...

I'm hopeless at guessing masquerades, but see it so easily once all is revealed, and yes, I do so see Martie here!  Beautiful poem.  Probably my favourite of yours, but then I love all your poems.

I was gone and missed the guessing but I surely love the poem.
