I've been known to get too stoned
and howl up at the moon.
Cursed with being born too late
and I guess I'll die too soon.
I've scouted trails
in every wrong direction.
Now, I've got to find the right path,
I don't want to miss my resurrection.

My dumpster boots keep tapping,
'though my drummer is out of time;
A world that holds no reason
is the reason for my rhymes.
I guess I'll keep howling at the moon.
And moaning in the night...
For that New World they say is coming soon.

Its not that I'm uncaring.
Girl, you're not to blame;
If sometimes this life we're sharing
Almost drives me insane;
But, my horse gets out of step
pulling double harness.
I don't want to break your heart.
Girl, I was just being honest.

This old world holds nothing for me.
That's the way its always been.
You're best just to ignore me,
'cause its hard to be my friend.
Circumstances
bring the rogue out in me;
and you'd have to be some kind of Saint,
Not to hold something agin' me.

I've always been a little round peg
inside a big square hole.
I still think y'all are pulling my leg
with all that I've been told.
You keep pointing me to paths
that I can't follow.
This world is always choking me...
It's too damned hard to swallow.

My dumpster boots keep tapping,
'though my drummer is out of time.
A world that holds no reason
is the reason for my rhymes.
I guess I'll keep howling at the moon
and moaning in the night...
For that New World they say is coming soon.

Easy to identify with this tonight.  Somehow, though, we just keep going...and I think in your case, the world is better for it!   ....jo

"This old world holds nothing for me."
Can sure relate to that tonight Larry. But the moon is beautiful, and the poetry the world inspires is too. That's something. I'm a-howling with you.

The soul would have no rainbows, had the eyes no tears.

Sometimes I want to change the world but the world won't have none of it. Then sometimes I think I'll just change the little part that touches my life. I'm usually sorely dissapointed again. Then I think I'll just work on changing myself a little. Even that change don't come easy but when it does the world don't weigh so heavy on my sholders. Enjoy reading your work Uriah, makes me think! :-)

Howl away, Uriah! I'm right beside you!
Let's both be round pegs in a world that is square! Flirty

I do so enjoy your down-home, earthy, raconteuring ramblin's!

It's not what we see with our eyes, is it? But the paths our hearts take us on is another story...  and so many paths to explore.  Sometimes a lonesome venture, nes pas?

Howling at the moon makes me smile, because that old man up there always garners reflection!

Uriah,
Well what did you expect? Strawberies and whipped cream?
