Peering down this long
dark corridor
I can see nothing ahead of me
that I can understand

I turn once to look
behind me
I'll never make
that mistake again...

I push myself ahead
always looking forward
looking for a light
or a map
or a guide

to help me around the corners,
around the bends

to keep me from scarring myself
as i bounce into the walls
and stumble on the stones...

I see a light just up ahead,
I grit my teeth and push forward
again
brushing against the wall
stepping over the crevices...

Knowing all along
that even when I reach this beacon,
of hope...
the corridor will continue
to stretch out ahead of me,
with dark turns and treacherous twists
and I will, of course, travel on...

True life.  The only defeat would be not to continue.  Thanks for reminding us all that we are not the only ones struggling with the path we are on.

"...to keep me from scarring myself

Scars..they are the history of having made it..they are our pat on the back..they tell people where we've been..they show our life-victories...Don't fear the scars of life

Such is life, as we know it...each day.

Good job of expressing it.
