In repy to Ed's Distressed Wood

And I am Oak,
my rings are hair turned white,
spare flesh around the middle,
the extra hang of fold
in spreading branches
that hold family together.
leaves that fall as promised dreams.
like all of life’s best laid schemes,
branches spread and old limbs creak
living is not for the weak.

LeeJ: To have a response from you with such nice tone, is indeed a feather in my cap. I wear it proudly, and picture it red! I dashed that off this morning while still at the work place so was  not sure it would be understood.(Nice job if you can get it I know). But Of course you  could. Thank you. martyjo

Startime and Dear Sy: Thank you so much for reading and responding. I just dashed out to do a little weeding, before the sun was too hot. I can not take to St.Augustine grass and it crops up into my gardens at great speed. Came in to sit and read a little and found you here.  Appreciate you both, martyjo

living is not for the weak.

No... it isn't. *S* And sometimes the strongest among us is so accustomed to their strength they don't recognize how they tower above others. *S*

I love this! *S*

Suthern and Dixie,  Thank you so much for your replies. I always felt I was an old Oak tree. I sometimes have dreams of a huge Oak containing a lopsided house of many rooms, all trying for a branch to hang on to. I think that is my family, sometimes standing tall and sometimes struggling to stay afloat.. best to you  great women, martyjo

I've been sitting here trying to think of an adequate response...and the poet fails; I'm back to "Wow!"

You humble me... and you make me grateful for this wonderful place. I wish I'd written this, and I'm honored that you did.

(smiles) Yay! Awwwwwww, this is precious, sweet friend, indeed oaks have such unique lives like all living things and ever since I was a little boy I have always found it miraculous that you can tell how old they are by the rings in their trunks, yay! (smiles) God Bless You, sweet friend, this is a most wonderfully inspiring read, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet martyjo, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
