And who’s to say
What gives a face its stern looks

The taste for blood . . .
Or a cry in the night

Hi John, to me, this spoke volumns about simply this...

Don't worry about what someone else is thinking, worrry about your own thoughts...?

Good one

This hit home. As far back as I can remember people have had need  to remind me to smile when I was working, or doing something. It seems I can not smile and think at the same time, and that sure annoys some people!..martyjo

Bravo! *S* I realize we live in a world where "have a nice day" flows freely from lips without thought... but I'll never forget trying to get through a day of work worrying whether my dad's tests would show cancer or not... and having a total stranger tell me to "SMILE, it can't be that bad" as we passed on the street.

Oh Yes, and all those years of working 4 to 12 and caring for Bud while he was having cancer treatments.  Visiting him when in the hospital and rushing off to work,  holding back the tears.  I asked my supervisor  to tell the others not to ask me, I would tell her and she could pass it on.  If every one came to me with pity in their eyes and I had to talk about it,  I knew I would break. My way worked and I only broke down twice, once late at night, and one day in Denny's trying to have a fast lunch. I had to have it packed to go. So agreed John, "nobody knows the trouble I've seen" is true and people should have a little empathy. Thanks for the thread, it helps to let it out even now. martyjo

maybe both...

In your light I learn how to love
In your beauty how to make poems
You dance inside my chest where
no one sees you and that sight becomes this art

I love that word!

The first time that I ever saw it was in a love letter written for me from a young man who was extolling my virtues as seen through his eyes.

When I got to "beautiful physiognomy" I thought that he was becoming a tad too personal! lol Then I looked the word up in the dictionary and had a good laugh!

Regarding your provocative poem, I believe  both would result in a less than smiling face. (It certainly would mine!) In actuality, there are many things that can wipe the smile from my "beautiful physiognomy" ~ lol There I go chuckling again!

Love & Light,
EA
