A single mom
trying to get her two boys’ pictures done
you looked over the corner to see what was going on
you pulled my heart strings
but I could not see what was meant to be

Only friends I wanted to be
coming out of a broken family
you may have fallen for the children first
or that could have just been your plan

You moved me into my first apartment
only to be with me
the first night
I had never been alone

Two pallets you made in the room
to let me know you cared
and not pushing for anymore

A few months go by and we see
our first kiss on the low-rider
(that part only for you and me)

A few more months go by
and you took me to meet your parents
scared I was, being in my early 20s
with two kids
could they see we were meant to be

A few years go by
you helped me with the kids
learning things
feeling things
and knowing you now are a father to them

You asked me to be your wife
I knew it was coming
and I asked you not to pop the question
during a drink or with food in my mouth
and every time I grabbed my drink
you started with Um Krystal

Just playing around with me
but by the end
we were engaged
my first answer was sure
(that’s another one for you and me)

A wedding day
on July 20 2003
was one of the happiest times for me

A few months later to my surprise
a baby on the way
you gave me my girl I have always wanted
I thank you for her

Now three years down the line and that date is today
we don't have a lot of money to spend
so I give you my love in a different way

You never had to take on this woman
with her two kids in tow
but you did
can’t you see what you've done

I love you even if I don't show it
and when i am at my worst
these are the things I think
of what our marriage is to us

Cory you are my heart and my soul
so many more years I want with you
that is my gift, all I can give

Happy Anniversary to you. I just celebrated my 25th year with a man who came to me via my two children, or so it seemed at the time. So, your story really touched me. Thank you for sharing your story and your happiness!!!
