~~Flirting~~

I raced my heart on walking speed,
Body needing an overhaul.
Eyes that followed were returned
by these of hazel, answering call.

Tiredness from working day
and in between the one of sore.
But forcing new the promise made
to self, a tightening, maybe more.

Jokingly, for I am fun,
sometimes I'm told, but disagree.
Laughter's medicine forgets
the ache of loneliness in me.

For I am one who dreads the dark,
the Winter's edge of cold and such.
Longing always for the warmth,
the full of moon, a loving touch.

Even if a stranger's words
can smile upon this body's need.
Pretending more than really is
he placed inside this head a seed.

Today, I work to rest the next,
tomorrow's resolute will come
reminding me that I exist,
allowing feel, instead of numb.

Learning more from this one day,
replacing mask I wear to hide
the sadness felt when all alone
when silence choiced was me denied.

To add the newness to my life
perhaps, maybe will change the course
with teasing words of ageless thoughts
this may become my lifeline source.

Releasing all the worried past,
allowing that which walled before,
the blocking out attention's gift,
I now accept for want of more.

You go girl !!
A little flirting can make a grey day much brighter. With that smile of yours...you shouldn't feel lonely long!

A new gym opened not too far away from me and I promised myself I would join and the owner and I were doing the "age" guessing thing...which always does me justice...because I appear younger than I am.

Anyway, this being a new thing for me, setting the machines properly sometimes made for a few laughs...which we both enjoyed.
Thanks for the read.

Michele..there are too many younger women/girls there..I don't need to be compared to them. Besides I don't believe that is the proper exercise outfit.

I am sure when the warmer weather hits I will dress less...I just wear my smile alot!
and ask for help alot for now~~~

*laughing* here

G'day M.  Pleasant verses and I hope all that flirting pays off.

M-lady, sounds like you're on a goodd track with this one.  I would do well myself to follow your lead.  I joined the gym the other day and am getting some exercise, so I guess that's a start.  As always, I enjoyed your penning.  I just know you are going to have a better year.   ....jo

sometimes we accept what we can't change after all it's enshrined in the wisdom prayer. But sometimes we accept the things we can change and make ourselves miserable in the process. It's good to see that despite your words you are still changing and growing. Good job Maureen. I like the way this holds together, like looking from both sides of the mirror.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

So many great stanzas here.  I've always enjoyed your writing, but it seems to me that it particularly has blossomed in the last three or four months.  I really like how you are playing with words, especially opposites:

"I raced my heart on walking speed,"

Have a good weekend, M.
