Meant to Be

Sometimes you can taste happiness
Like a sweetness on the tip of your tongue,
Not unlike a subtle understanding that comforts fear
Or a stare shared between distant stars---
A trust that slumbers underneath Venetian skies
Smiling to sips of burgundy and passion defined…

Sometimes you can listen to unhappiness,
The whispering of cautious heartbeats
Kissing the closing eyelids of the sunset
While the heart slayer weeps into solitude’s river;
But above the confusion of what is perceived,
Soars the bluest and truest of doves
Grasping tightly onto the dreams of dreamers,
(Like a sinner holding onto old ways)
Burdens that becomes heavy,
Slipping into the nights unending vulnerabilities…

Sometimes you have to look for happiness;
Facing and embracing the reflection,
Of true happiness, the first time it is felt;
Listen to the words of one that knows,
One who has been where you reside---
The search is worth the find,
The tears are worth the pain,
The hope is worth the next sunny day,
Chance is worth the many heartbreaks
Because true love is worth its keep.

Marcel

marcel,

  Enjoyed your tender reflection and bits of wisdom very much, especially the last stanza!
