I am

not the girl you knew
I've loved
and I've lost

oh how I've lost

I take my lessons
to heart
learn from them
and move on

because I know
that for my own sanity
I cannot dwell on the

past

Negativity was my way of life
my addiction
my depression

Depression
WAS my excuse

Depression is now my

CHALLENGE

and I will meet it head on
and take it down

it may never leave me
but it will never again
own me

In the darkest times
I look for a positive
the tears it took
for me to learn how
to do this

are valuable tears
liquid not wasted
no matter what
you might have said

Every day is a new day
Every minute is a new minute

If I must take it

one second

at a time
then I must
and I will

to survive

because I love life

now

BRAVO!!!
courage you have, determination shown, words help you vent and you will overcome...good luck to you and keep fighting, it's worth the struggle.

I really like this. It's good to read about one's struggles and how they overcame them. I can relate at points- thank you.

Good for you and much understood.

read a quote today by Abe Lincoln:

"I may walk slow, but I never walk back."

*smile*

but it will never again
own me

and YOU own that, be proud of yourself.

Sometimes I need to re-read my own "stuff" to remind myself of certain things but I hope you never forget this write.  It's something to live by.  Well done!

I rather like the image of depression being taken down since that is exactly what it does to us. And you know I love your attitude and determination.

Though I probably don't understand your challenges with depression I fought my own and wrote of it too:

Decisions

It takes strength to take life minute by minute when one day at a time is asking too much. *S* Excellent write!
