exactly when no one can say but unto each is appointed a day and in that day, an hour and a minute, in which to die without apparent relief it seemed this day were fated to be mine but my last breath never came finality’s control is obviously out of human grasping beset beyond argument yet query I over and over why this day is not of one’s own choosing when no pain greater than this moment’s could be conceived I jumped the gun and shot myself backwards into yesterday where without delay my regrets undertook to put me six feet under * ** *** **** poets note: do not worry I am not as depressed as this poem would imply.....*smile*...but it seems my muse could use a kick in the metaphorical behind |
