wail your blackened tongue lithe, sharp as knives prod me with whipcord thumbs bound behind my back forced to speak on my behalf naught witness to bear in my defense NO VACANCY flash inside thine eyes Draw my confession I choose to stand mute. Sue, I had flashbacks to the Spanish Inquisition. (Not that I'm that old, really) Great write as usual. Billy 8) "Only the dead, have seen the end of war." |

Hey Kari, we are so bad, ain't we? Thank you . . . I didn't mean for this to sound so darkish, but it was a dark time. Hey Billy, I never even thought of that but I was reading of Salem when I wrote this and also related it to any kind of abuse really, mostly mental abuse. I am so happy you saw that in there. Thanks guys. |

Hi "Draw my confession I choose to stand mute." Oh, how i loved those two lines, so expressive, is that the right word, yes, I think so, made my heart sting.. By the way, the word "Lethe", what does it mean exactly? You know it? The word "Lithe" in your piece made me think of it, I know this poem that is called Lethe, and it's been eating me for some while that I don't know the exact meaning of it, I couldn't find it in my oxford dictionary eighter. "You are my blade And my rope You are my Lethe" (Verse from the poem) Anyway, exciting write Yours truly ~Broken~ "Base not your joy upon the deeds of others, for what is given can be taken away." thank you everyone and laughing here. I look like some kind of sociopath or sexual deviant tyvm. This was about the torture techniques they used during the Salem Witch Trials on innocent people. If you did not confess, you were not hanged, but you were brutally tortured until then. The ones who fell from torture were hanged or either died during. A result of ridiculous mass hysteria. Billy pointed out another comparison too, as he saw it and am glad you guys all get a different view of this one. Michele, no need to duck .. . Icey? Ain't it though? (sheesh) Broken, I believe your Lethe is a river in Hades . . . James? Cute when I am mad . . . I am ok and thank you . . . Thanks guys. |

I should have supplied these links: http://www.britannica.com/eb/article-9058965 and http://www.reference.com/browse/wiki/Salem_witch_trials The last link is a good one, is what I have been reading of. The first link describes peine forte et dure. |

How deeply you conveyed this peine forte et dure, dear Sue! I choose to stand mute This sentence even on its own holds such intense pain. Masterful. Love, Margherita |
