In the summer of ‘62
I lived right on the beach
Down in Venice, of all places
Where the muscles walked as pillars
and the surfers grew fins and tails
I lie there gift wrapped on the sand
With bright eyes and russet skin
and the breeze that speaks in icy tones
Cools me from the scorching breath of the sun
She was just a child then, Melissa
Her hair of sunset, eyes of teal
Gazed upon me in awe, knowing that one day
She too will surface from the sea
As a women
Now in ’82 while I lie on the beach
My wrapping not as tight
Skin more milky then tan
and Melissa is gone
She left just last week
On a winters kiss
Determined to live another life
Among the mountain cliffs
Where shivers are a daily thing
and fires bundle you in warmth
Without me
In Colorado

A beautiful touching memory. I felt
bittersweetness of emotion. Shivers,
and warmth. Thanks for sharing this one.

I literally tried to find just a few lines I wanted to quote and couldn't for they not only were all good but also so well intertwined that I would have to have taken it in it's entirety..

Well done!!

(and Bob?  I swear I am not following you!)

Tugs at the heartstrings, doesn't it? Nice job.

"My wrapping not as tight
Skin more milky then tan"

Great lines.
