For The Best Of Me

my mind falls
to depths I don’t want it to
feathered thoughts
that lay so heavy in memory
dust stirred
by unintentional incidents      accidentally
deja vued back to places
I could never even reach            then
a smell, a sound, the wind
all bring ripples back unexpectedly
something thick
that it had become
complacent
and I don’t know if
it was that I had forgotten
just uncomfortably ignored
how close next to my skin
it really is
and is not something
I can remove and place out of reach
and my heart still bleeds
black on white
missing something never had
for there is such weakness
in my honor
and for the best of me

              I can not forget

just some words cut out
from the diary of my heart
