Wounded from infancy: She limped through childhood With broken-wing fears Of inward affection; Learned all the dance-steps wrong, Because of a spellbound song. Toxic clubs beat her, Shame-swung a mean swing, Bruising her spirit To a dull yellow shade- Blood red, and purple... Inheriting tongue stings By familial decree, That laid waiting To draw her souls blood Out by slicing, At prides swollen arteries, And the veins of personal esteem; Which made look as ugly, The beauty of in-ti-macy. * She grew into childhood Accepting, believing That love was a prize For the actions you do; For acting in ways, The Gods all around her, Insisted they wanted her to; * School was a haven, And her heart began singing, The songs of the woman, Inside her awakening... Boys gathered 'round The new shape of her breasts, Which made her start thinking The oddest of things "The world loves my acting, My body...cosmetics and dress..." ("But I am not worthy, of intimate schemes, To express what I feel, is a sinful thing") * Shame is abusive, insane- And ridiculous, Much different than guilt That some think the same. And so she rode 'round On a bright painted pony, Danced through the stages (Completely dependent) On her mirror image, To gain all her young-woman needs. No one took task, To look deep inside Until came the time A bride she would be; When her gentle groom told Of her right to speak free, To grow past her surface, And phony play acts... To look inside deep, She kindly was asked, To discover true meaning Of in-to-me-see. [This message has been edited by ice (12-13-2005 11:24 AM).] |

A poem to tug at one's heart strings, to be sure. To paraphrase Shakespeare, "All the world's a stage, and we the players on it." Indeed, he is a "gentle groom" and one who sees beyond her mask. Hopefully he will be able to provoke her into looking deeper and discovering the true inner beauty that he sees and appreciates. Linda |

Sadly, nobody rarely does: No one took task, To look deep inside I can relate and am glad I have found those that DO and DID. |

There are some poems that can be taken in quickly... others need to be digested, thoughtfully... and some? Just need to be worn like honeyed silk. This poem buries itself deep into the reader, Ford. It is most certainly a and one that I will treasure... Thank you. "There's a reason they call God The Creator - he sides with talent." Julia Cameron |

Ice, thanx for posting this...it applies to both sexes too. And you penned the feelings, emotions and all that goes with "in to me see"....a long and bumpy road often lies ahead...sometimes with no sign at the crossroads...and lots of trials and lots of errors as well........ |

An extra special thanks to Seymour and Magnus...the only men who replied so far.. For some reason I am not replied to by many males? So often I read your words and do not feel I have an adequate response for it, perhaps because the best that I can at times say is that your words touch deeply, and move me. I hope, that is enough. Very well done sir, and of course this is a and is library bound... seek the flame within yourself |

Hi ice, Is this a new write or is this one you may have posted in PTO? Anyways you nailed it. The emotions and feeling of "in-to-me-see." When a man truely loves a woman and when the woman truely loves herself...that is the love they are both deserving of! Enjoyed the read, pictureme2 |

Oh, Ice man, I loved the ending of this poem and the play with the words, which I will never forget...you are very clever...hehehe. What a sweet ending for an all too common, sad story which you penned so well. You make writing poetry look so easy. .....jo |

Methinks I know who the two people in the poem are, which makes you an exceptional person. Even if I am wrong, the simple fact that you could think this, let alone write this, makes you no less exceptional and leads me to delight in the human nature of some. This is not always easy. Thank you for this and thank you for your beautiful poem. - Owl |
