PRETTY PLEASE RE: MIND ME Standing in the kitchen window buttering a piece of warm toast I fall back, somewhere in time, I see you a precious baby, feasting on a breast for the very first time a little too fast I fall ahead, somewhere in time, I see you a hungary husband sitting at a dining room table, breakfast is over before you look up from the busy newspaper your eyes meet mine in everyday space that seperates us a little too fast a pair of eyes stare back still a mom, a father, still a son she is a bit less fleshly her breasts are still full her eyes of brownish green are now black and white less bright, her hair is streaked with perpetual sunlight it would be ludicrous to think of her as an old woman. Your wife picks up your plate, surveying the ruins and you wonder how dear ole mom is but before you can speak she says my name you shrug, as always, of course partly disdainful and staged I see you rising, leaning on a set of breasts kissing the lips of a lover as you stare up into the air that seperates and whisper "love ya" gulping your last splash of milk a little too fast Looking back over my shoulder, just in time my 15 and 11/12th year old son, plops himself down "Whats for breakfast..I'm in a hurry..."I need a ride home Friday... Don't forget" as he downs his milk, a little too fast "Please remind me." |

wow, what a flash-forward/backward trip! I think I am happy I only had one... LOL, but she is learning quickly, that having breakfast 'ready and served' is a treat, a luxury  |
