Summer of ‘63 Silence blanketed a crimson ridge, covered in the bloods of foes. Awaiting the cleansing wash of time and tears of Heaven falling endlessly upon the trampled blades of green. It was there the young lay still as mother’s names were cried into the swelter of night...and fires cast eerie glints against the merciless surgeon’s blade. There upon that granite pocked impasse as countless sheep followed the swish of a mare’s tail and fell suddenly to a bitter earth as lifeless eyes stared into stars that wrenched the waking dawn from it’s precipice. As morn came, fear would chill the damp palm and the last dregs of a blackened pot would no longer sing a merry tune....in the Summer of ‘63 as sheep followed the solemn swish of a weary mare’s tail. |
