I can easily lose myself in the pain of others Suffering from lack of power to be what is needed Sustenance to feed a bleeding soul I am not capable I weep silently so as not to produce pity From others for my lack of strength I wish to be strong enough to support the world In this life I am merely flesh and fluid Making it difficult to do all that I want Leaving me reaching for the impossible A solution to the weary of heart and mind I feel your pain and it leaves me desiring To caress the hardness smooth To absorb your tears with my own skin I cannot do this So I offer what I can My love, my unconditional understanding And the ability to stay when everyone else is gone "too bad ignorance isn't painful" ~Unknown~ |

Susan, it is a fine balancing act to be able to give to others without depleting ourselves. It is best for all concerned if we were to give from the overflow of our own full cup. Otherwise, we would become the ones in need of comfort and healing ~ and we would no longer be of help to others. The world would be a better place if more people were like you! Linda |

"And the ability to stay when everyone else is gone" smiling at you--you are in my head again, poor thing! Some days it's all I can do to just "show up", and on those days, I infuriate myself when I can't do more. *hugs & tears & even smiles* |

Susan, oh how I know this. Even when I feel so low myself, I still have that burning desire within to help and hold up others....yes, to be a shelter for them. Hugs, Ethel |

I was just thinking about this sort of thing yesterday, and it is the ability to stay when others desert that shows a person's true intentions, and spirit. Good poem, and even greater message Susan. |

You are a woman and a mother, you possess strength that the men in your life may claim, but will never attain. |

very excellent poem, I enjoyed reading it a lot "I weep silently so as not to produce pity From others for my lack of strength" Everyone hurts, and showing it does not make you weak. |

Susan, I think your much more capable than you realize. Just to know there are people like you in the world makes it a brighter place. May you never become overwrought by the suffering in the world. Keep your head above the water. :-) Although the world is full of suffering , it is also full of the over coming of it. Helen Keller |

(angel friendship hugs) Oh Susan, I absolutely agree with Linda that the world would definitely be a much better place with more kind, understanding people like you, dearest friend, I do find it very important that when we offer our comfort and magnanimity to one another, we also don't get too absorbed into their grief and anguish as well, for indeed I feel it definitely helps to be able to relate to and feel the pain yourself to nderstand it, and it can easily get us all emotional just thinking of it, but indeed the best gift we could ever give is our caring and attention and, wholeheartedly, good will to each other! (smiles) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Susan, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you!
