Listening to every heart

Wolf

Winter’s expanse hears lone wolf cry
And white these tracks that seek the moon
This is not the season of sighs
Winter’s expanse hears lone wolf cry
O ancients, still wondering why
That truths vanish with loss of loon
Winter’s expanse hears lone wolf cry
And white these tracks that seek the moon

wolfy loves winter..
it seems they do
something about their new coats
and the tracks they leave
like the are marking their paths
to a lover's den..

You knew this would leave a big smile on my face, didn't you?

Somehow my mind never got the hang of a triolet, but you do them so well and beautifully too. Careful though... soon you'll be writing one about a snow owl.

You made my day Sunny One. Thanks.

Kari

This poem touches me personaly..

The wolf spirit is very close to me, it is the great insignia of what is left wild in the world..

Sandburg said it much better than I can...

"THERE is a wolf in me ... fangs pointed for tearing gashes ... a red tongue for raw meat ... and the hot lapping of blood--I keep this wolf because the wilderness gave it to me and the wilderness will not let it go."

Indeed the repetitive lines in your poem are effective..

"Winter’s expanse hears lone wolf cry"
"And white these tracks that seek the moon"

Indeed I hear and see the tracks..

This triolet moved the part of me inside that the wilderness will not let go...

You are singularly good at this form -- and it's one that's all too easy to be mediocre with. So ring that bell, lady, it sounds a lusty note!

See? You inspire jealousy!

I can't seem to make these things work gracefully, and I do admire the form so much.

One of the best triolets I have read here at Pip.

Sunshine,

So few lines, but such thought this beauty provokes!

I'm enjoying your very special book right now!  It's the first book, I mean real book, I've read in a couple of years!  Oh, what a treat it is!  (Mostly, I just browse books that are related to my profession.)  I blame your book for bringing me to the computer this afternoon!  Just had to touch the blue pages again after a leisurely morning of reading!

Have a great weekend, Miss Sunshine!

Kari, this was amazingly touching and serves such a spirit meaning to me...of the wild of wilderness, God, I'm afraid when it to is gone, so will we be.  Love to you for your profound awareness and astute constitution to the world.  Love Me
