It was said that
When the injection was given
That aging would cease..
That the receiver would never die-
In part, it was true, but after the shot
Their body stayed still, a few
Moments stopped, in limbo.

Its then their white hair began
To darken-but nature insisted
They stay its ancient way, dismissing
Wishes, that things remain the same.

To the patients delight,
Movement towards death had stopped
But to everyone's surprise
It reversed direction, moving them back
-wards towards the time of their birth.

They then began arriving before asking
"How long until we get there?"

Traveling through time already spent,
Past lingering on incidents of uglyness,
Traveling backwards
Pausing momentarily on lovely
Station stops that briskly fleeted,
Just like when long time gone events
Took place... seemingly the same,
They passed ... far too hastily.

Stopping to distress on love gone,
The ignorance of begged forgiveness,
Led to reason for strife,
Then choices taken-quick refrains their song-
The heat of bliss, first erotic kisses
And then the chemical response
When love first enters into brains
Through the line of sight of eyes.

The spiral, once it began to twist
Became tornadic...Could not be reversed.

Virginity revived, past this
Came puberty, and all its pain-
To childhood laughter-potty training;

Calming turned into crying,
Recognizing mother through the haze-

On to first discovery of
That in their world there was another
Heartbeat other than their own-
Pounding, sending sound
Into a sea of amniotic;
Not knowing, were it they were born
(And there remained)
That they would surely drown.

In moisture and heat, an egg divides
An intruder spews flagella,
Contractions in a cave
Penetration
And then the patient disappears.

Where they went from there,
Is a secret that remains.

Ford

What a very interesting read...It must have been fun to write, as well.  Much enjoyed where you took this!

I loved this return-to-the-womb and then some trip!
In both directions the spiraling speed seems to be like an out-of-control football, with an end zone beyond our imagination's playing field. See what you made me do? I don't even watch football, yet here I am relating something to a football! LOL

there is no way to describe the enthusiasum reading your poetry brings to my soul...I'm mezmorized by your ability to describe and relate, nature to the cosmic...intellect still growing, always questioning without questions, it just kinda comes to you, yanno.  I believe your able to put yourself in the same place that I do...and it's marvelous isn't it?  A marvelous learning session...of awarness, as it was, back then, knowing, without knowing.  You do remember, don't you?

Excellent read my friend.

A good tailspin over the possibility
of getting what one asks for, to
return to their youth...

in this day and age...

one wonders that this fantasy couldn't
very well become fact...

Excellent read, ice!

Bravo! Ice, I commend you on your brilliance and creativity! A thoroughly engaging trip to the inception of one's time on Earth.

A quantum leap backwards in time! Seeing life's journey in reverse was quite the mind trip!

This was quite the trip, thank you, ice, rushing backwards through time, as if viewing a speeded-up film...

But, my mind caught up in this, carried the momentum past the final lines...and continued backward in time...through the generations...through the Eras of Time, to the early Archaean, just before the first living cell was formed...

Stopped there.

Such wonderful replies deserve individual response..But because of limited computer time, I sometimes choose to spend it replying to other poetry on this site..

This does not mean that each reply is not read, and individually embraced..

I love and linger on each...

And for each send thanks...

Ford~
I can't even begin to recall just how many times I've had this very thought .... don't know why I never poeticized it ... and now I'm aware that I was waiting .... wanting .... for someone to do it as beautifully as you've done~

Thank you~

ice, I had to go looking for this masterly and imaginative piece of writing and wasn't disappointed.  But, no thanks, I don't want to go back the physical way! Been there, done that, and the t-shirt is wearing thin!   I did, however, thoroughly enjoy your verbal trip - thanks.
