Eye To Eye (Distressed Attraction)

I have thought to myself

perhaps,

it is the way
that I perceived you
as the strong
silent type
that caused this uneasy
sort of distress
every time you come near

or is it this commanding presence
you seem to have
that makes me turn my head
to divert my eyes
every time
our paths cross

do my eyes lie?

Yes, I have pondered this
and given a thought or two

{it's nothing you say
or nothing that you do}

but for a few seconds
a spark seemed to flash
the day your hand brushed against me
as you walked past...

so? Maybe it's just my creative mind,
oh...

if I looked deeper, what might I find,

but I still can't greet you

eye to eye

I'm afraid a blush
surely would arise,
if I were to ever look
into those deep brown eyes..

I'm better off keeping my perceptions
to myself...

I've heard it said
have no fear

but, I'm always distressed
every time that your near.

live for today,
dream of the future,
and learn eternal truths from the past..

strong and silent type...
but a cover
for fear of looking
into her deep blue eyes
and having to let go
of his shield...

Felt...from the 'other' side...
