Warmth eludes me today As I huddle around myself It’s almost time to wake up And pretend interest in something other than sleep My mind is heavy As it carries the weight of loved ones Some wishing for a clear breath Others hoping for relief from self hatred This life is hard and harder than it should be for some Things don’t get done like they should In a place that brags of it’s superiority Cut off like a diseased limb, hoping no one will notice That an entire culture may be gone And yet… Someone underestimated the power Of a people And a way of life that will not be denied Hobbled by the lack They will rise again of their own accord Growing stronger and learning Not to trust, that which would leave them For dead Warmth eludes me everyday These days Thanks to the cold realization Of a nation that can’t seem to take care Of it’s own "too bad ignorance isn't painful" ~Unknown~ [This message has been edited by Susan Caldwell (11-29-2005 10:46 AM).] |

As an onlooker of current events in the States, this really saddens me as I do realize the state of mind people must be in right now. I can only hope that the load every southern American has had to bear lately is lightened soon, and they will all be better prepared for a better tomorrow. to you sweet lady, for the heartfelt write. To see real beauty you must look with your heart. |

came back to add, that song has been driving me nuts. It's been in my head for a month now, and I'm not thinking clearly, but I am smiling with wry amusement now-- "Something In The Air" - Tom Petty heh. love ya lady |

perfect song. Oddly, my daughter, who doesn't listen to a whole lot of news..tells me she had a dream the other night and it started out as Katrina hitting but was endless...she said it went on so long it was like the apocalypse... Made me shudder. Thank you all...and Karen? I knew you would know. "too bad ignorance isn't painful" ~Unknown~ |

Susan, you've verbalized so well what I have come to realize. But, thank goodness, there are caring people still....thank goodness. ....jo |
