Praise be to Greenman, father nature- Lover of our Mother-Goddess, And all that has sprung from her loins... * On **Mabon morning Let-us celebrate this sabbat, Now, before the winter dragon Burns the leaves-recall us Plato's sadness.. sprinkle wine To signify his falling tears, As wildling groves were razed On hills surrounding Athens; Beg oh father Green, Forgive those Greeks and us; Accept these pittance offerings As penance for our sins... Of gourds and pinecones- Corn, and apples- Grains and pomegranates-ivy-vines And fertile seeds (of every kind) Brim full the horn of plenty with Plump-acorns, dress, the Maybun pole With rose and honeysuckle-milkweed- Myrrh and passion flower, Burn gray-sage and pungent benzoin, Paint the tents with browns and orange- Dark maroons and russet, rub- Golden stones of agate-blue of lapis- Red of Sapphire...know that Summer is as beauty does, Make turn from maid to Crone as Time extends from growth to death; So in finery, with Gods and Devils, dance This day that ends the seasons- Bright, and warm, before the advent cold And frozen, rains dress all with ice In latter days of autumn; Finish your business, prepare for rest Revel in each field as if It bound by ancient Celtic roads- The ones, that lead to *Samhaim; All praise, send straight to Greenman... (*pronounced -SAW in) (Irish) (modern English=Halloween) (**Mabon-Maybun (Irish) (The autumnal equinox..September 22) [This message has been edited by ice (09-19-2005 06:31 AM).] |

...SAVED faster than you can say "So mote it be!" I suppose that is a good indication that I deem this poem a Love and Samhaim Light, Linda |

An "abundant" poem, in every sense. Enjoyed the touch of centuries along the lines. Beautiful! Love, Margherita |

"Summer is as beauty does, Make turn from maid to Crone as Time extends from growth to death" wonderful analogies .. "too bad ignorance isn't painful" |

Why did this read make me feel like dancing in the recently harvested fields? LOL, perhaps, the orange-red moon two nights ago is still in my pocket, where I put it for safe keeping... |
