Shalom Shalom Shalom
Peace be with you,
Oh,  Israel and Palestine!

How swift the rift divides
the hearts of the people!
It’s not just a strip of land

Gaza

Families and faiths
ripped apart
at the heart.

And all of us forget,
nothing
is ours forever, anyway.

A mourning morning
full of wailing walls
seemingly too high to scale.

If we can get beyond this jail,
recycling the wail of generations,
can peace prevail?

I put my hopes in you,
the people of Gush-Shalom, the Peace Bloc.
May all your dreams come true.

praying for Peace
in support of Gush-Shalom

I have removed the link, as it doesn't appear to be working properly today. Just type in Gush Shalom if you would like to know more about Uri Avnery and Gush Shalom, Israeli based peace organization.

Peace that elusive hope we should never abandon...

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Hey, Larry, thanks for reading.
I am lighting a candle for peace today, knowing the Israeli settlements removal from Gaza will be filled with controversy and violence.

Jo, thank you, for sharing your thoughts at this moment.

Seems that there is upheaval everywhere nowadays. Awesome write on a sad state of affairs. Shalom.

that one thing that continually keeps my heart in turmoil is the quest that we should all know ~peace.

I only need to repeat some lines of yours which sunk in my chest like an anchor:

And all of us forget,
nothing
is ours forever, anyway.

thanking each of you
and Ed, I've always put a twist on that phrase of Golda's
"when WE love their children more than they hate us." and vice versa....

i don't really understand all these goings on, I really don't want to understand it I suppose, but commend you for standing up and being heard on this....when it comes down to what really matters, it just seems then, so small, doesn't it?

Hugs to you and thank you

The lines that Sue quoted (hi Sue )
had the same effect on me...

Very well done Kacy!

I wish to have just a drop of your hope.
