She sat stoically in the desert sun, arms falling helplessly alongside her hips. A weary song fell from her parched lips, sad as the day had begun. She left her home behind her, packed a handful of memories, never once looking back, for fear her heart might turn to stone. ~ She carried her small bags over the desert sands, stepping gingerly in footprints left behind. She searched for an omen in the clear blue skies, set for home with a smile in her eyes. She left behind the dusty tent, marching forward to barren lands, to build a new life for herself on formerly occupied lands. * And so begins the exchange, of life's give-and-take in Gaza. |

She searched for an omen in the clear blue skies, ~*~ So many do just that...every day in every way... I can think back just a few years, and see memories return to all of us. Kacy, sometimes, I think you speak for the world. And what I know of you? Makes me proud to call you Poet. |

from jpost (Jerusalem Post online) "In the days leading up to Israel's pullout from the Gaza Strip, American Jewish philanthropists donated some $14 million to ensure Israeli greenhouses would pass into Palestinian hands unharmed. While the Israeli government has paid for the land and buildings settlers are leaving behind, the American donations were meant to purchase equipment that keeps the greenhouses running. The move could preserve some 3,500 Palestinian jobs, as well as one of the region's main sources of export income. " This is the kind of giving and sharing, that will hopefully make this transition smoother, will help to heal the deep wounds and rift between the people...those who left, those who are arriving in Gaza. |

Thank you, Ethel, for reading this one especially. I left a big part of my heart in Israel many years ago. |
