Before the judge stood Balladeer,
Things looked grim for ‘Deer I fear,
The charge it was insecticide,
It seems a roach had up and died,
Evidence showed pesticide,
With ‘Deer the man who had applied
The poison to poor bug departed,
Cruel, cruel ‘Deer, so cold, cold hearted,
'Deer's lawyer said, we've no defense,
So let 'Deer have it, that's my two cents.
GUILTY! GUILTY! Ruled the jury,
One could almost feel their fury,
The judge stared down with icy stare,
On Balladeer, who in despair,
Said, “Won’t you give me one more chance,
For there was, an exterminating circumstance.

The Verdict

There was no mercy from the Court,
For the heinous bug man's tort,
For he had a jury of his peers,
The bugs gave 'Deer life plus ten years.

The Appeal

But the Pipster's came to 'Deer's defense,
Said to the Court that 'Deer's offense,
Was not that bad when it was compared,
To some judge's poetry, a judge has shared.
The Court agreed, as he heard their plea,
Said Court's ajourned, and set 'Deer free.

Remand...

Balladeer, to himself said,
Next time in Court, I will instead,
Proceed pro se; I will not hire,
as my lawyer, Toerag, esquire.
