Stainless steel pans
Resist rust
No matter how often
Saline solutions
Boil forth from them

And cast iron skillets
Are strong enough
To serve generations
They do not bend or burn
However hot the fires

But I'm just tin foil
And easily crumple,
Useful temporarily
But disposable
With no lasting worth

Ahem.....I happen to know better....you are titanium -- I've seen it. Low gloss, but it never fades or tarnishes...impervious to wear and the elements, unaffected even by magnetism....Titanium is itself and only itself, without pretense or show, and strong as strong gets.

you just underestimate your worth...

if I was gonna get hit with something, I would sure pick tinfoil over iron, and if I was gonna pack something with me it would be tinfoil instead of iron...its bendable, its shiny and pretty, it can be made into art...etc, etc...
and if I was gonna pick a friend...it would be you

Dear Belle that was very clever metaphoric writing, but I do believe that your last stanza was inaccurate.

You, my friend, are made of diamonds and will last ~ and shine! ~ 'til the end of time!

...but I do understand how one can feel as though they are made of aluminum foil at times. Just remember that you are stronger and brighter than you may think! You should see yourself through the eyes of others!

You know what?  If I was given a choice of kitchen things that I could keep...I would choose tin foil.  Talk about versatility and adaptability!!

I use to crumble easy, but now, I stand up strong. Atleast, I try. It isn't always easy.

It is hard for me to look at this post without laughing... not at the poem or the wonderful responses... but at the google ads at the top of the page... for pots and pans! LOL Talk about targeted advertising gone awry! *G*

Ratleader: If I lived a million years, asking for everything in the world and more... I could never imagine a better friend than you. Thank you so much... yes. *S*

Seymour: It is, indeed... but what wonderful companions I've found on the voyage! *S*

Marge: I believe you! *S* But he sure did say it "purtily"... LOL I'd love to see those pics... thank you so much, dear friend! *S*

jellybeans: How did I ever get so lucky? I know blessings when I see them... for I could never deserve the friends who give my life such meaning and joy... Thank you!!!

LR: Your response sure made me sparkle, dearest nephew... thank you! *S*

PS: I know, my friend... I know...

Startime: You humble me... thank you so much! *S*

iliana: LOL... and thank you ever so much! *S*

Aleta: Thank you so much, kind lady... *S*

EA: This thread has definitely been an eye-opener... I told my best friend that I couldn't post this when it was written... had to wait for things to get better... but never expected this outpouring of love and affection... I sure do appreciate it, though... thank you! *S*

JM: ROFL @ recycling... but you'd better watch those mentions of corn and pickles when iron skillets are close at hand! LOL Thank you so much, my friend...

Martie: Thank you... I love your positive viewpoint! *S*

SmartChick: No... it isn't easy... but it takes courage to try... and courage is strength, too. *S* Thank you!!

Wow... I really appreciate each and every one of you... thank you so much!!! *S*

As tin foil you tend to keep others from burning....you can bend with the way of the world, you shine and protect, and just think of all the better reception the rednecks get from their TV antennas..just cuz of you?

Excuse me???????  Tell me I was reading you wrong...sounds like you need to get your butt up here and we'll go to Tex Mex for some astounding frozen margaritas....hows that?  Then we can go to some great landmarks in the area, Doylestown, Neww Hope, Lambertville, the Poconos...and by the time we're done...no one, but no one, will look crossed eyed at you, not even you...hehehehe....

On a more serious note, I have one of those large cast iron skillets, which I still make corn bread in....

Hugs you...

Ah...but did you know
that iron skillets
need a soft rub of oil,
to temper them...

and the steel implements,
well, they can crack under
the wrong pressure at time,
lose their patina...

but aluminum...

aluminum is light,
warms or cools easily...
and when it becomes a bit bent?
Gains character...

and recycles well...

Beloved one, this is a brilliant piece of writing you know, or perhaps you don't? Well, trust me on this beloved, whenever I say trust me why is that people smile as if to say like I'd trust a rattle snake but truly this is exquisite writing. Right now I'd take tin foil any day. Imagine how much easier it would be to pack up a kitchen that was all tin foil? Hey you could bring your kitchen with you and I'd get to sample some absolutely delicious cooking. My mouth still remembers the delicious applesauce cake, and I can't tell you how much I loved all the goodies in the tin. I shared them with Emma, but not the cake that was all for me. (Hush child you've made me wander from the point as usual) My mind has gone to delicious cakes and cookies and I don't remember what I was saying.

Yes I do, Ed said it best YOU beloved one are pure titanium, and you are wonderful, you need not envy anything or anyone. Actually I'd say you were pure gold, 24 carat, and you can't get better than that.

Love you always
and forever

Ruthie girl,
But who could possibly complain about being wrapped by you?!

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
