Was it the riff you played
(or did not play?)
or something you said
(or did not say?)
I don't know
but those bells were ringing
and the memories were singing,

I know that tune!
I can name that tune in three notes!

and somewhere under the magnificent rainbow
bluebirds really DO fly
(the same as time)
and no, we never intended
to stay in one spot anyway, right?

but now that we've stepped into the realm of
"Did I write that?
Did I play those notes?"

maybe we've come to that outrageously defining
point of LIFE and LIGHT
when we acknowledge
MAYBE we've done more than we
ever thought we could?

so perhaps, it's not so surprising
along the timeline of life
that we forgot a few fine notes?

You are always a note
worth an echo,
dear Rebel.

tonight, it's our turn to let you know, you're loved.

Thanks Kacy, for stepping up when I was a riff behind.

Kacy

Even though I had to look up the meaning of riff, you are right, "You are always a note
worth an echo,
dear Rebel."

I like the form of this one.  And the way you use words. I like the poem.
