Seducing Rain 1:1 She came on long legs Reaching first the black bottoms of cloud Then stretching to the fat curve of earth Where beyond the straight line of vision All things were hidden but the sounds Distant rumbles of brilliance begotten In the abyss of ions gathered along High humid mass In her roiled the dust Blown wayward from rich planting fields Having grown the seed and fed roots grown deep A mother’s sleep of dreams disturbed When the only moisture found was coaxed From deep within the body of veins Tapped now again and drawn without a circled fall Even the beds of streams used to bleed But now lie the fallow crawl of summers yet to reign Lost this way again Against the skin of cirrus her Too high for rain She inhaled the remains To rare cold flaying march Climbs embryo rain Upon shimmering waves That danced wet mirages on vistas grand Leaving many to hope they too might taste of her Still she strides the land of hide and seek With illusions that no one sees Until she decides to billow the skirts with magic And flash blinding eyes against tragic race Once upon the bend of earth Twice to touch the blue with black And on again And on again Till gone from view And I turned restlessly in my bed Thinking of how it was with you Leaving dreams to speak along sunburned hills Of how it was to drink from clouds With more than passing thirst |

In her roiled the dust Blown wayward from rich planting fields Having grown the seed and fed roots grown deep A mother’s sleep of dreams disturbed When the only moisture found was coaxed From deep within the body of veins Tapped now again and drawn without a circled fall Even the beds of streams used to bleed But now lie the fallow crawl of summers yet to reign Lost this way again Against the skin of cirrus her Too high for rain She inhaled the remains To rare cold flaying march Climbs embryo rain Upon shimmering waves That danced wet mirages on vistas grand Leaving many to hope they too might taste of her Still she strides the land of hide and seek With illusions that no one sees Until she decides to billow the skirts with magic And flash blinding eyes against tragic race Once upon the bend of earth Twice to touch the blue with black And on again And on again Till gone from view ~*~ Indeed, from a distance, she is indeed the seducer... I have seen her from the hills of the plains... and your pen has skirted her, with justice, peeking. |

Ron Your title seduced me into reading, and the whole poem, well lets just say, it was good for me! |

"And I turned restlessly in my bed Thinking of how it was with you Leaving dreams to speak along sunburned hills Of how it was to drink from clouds With more than passing thirst" The ending lines always grab me...as you intend....and I love it. you quench my thirst. Oh my, I do like this one. Billowed skirts-what a great image. It's full of images for me, and sense-bytes. That's the kind of poetry I like! Nan (Pilgrim variety) |

Ok, Ron, there are no words for this one, because it burned. It beautifully, passionately, hopelessly, perfectly . . . burned. |
