I remember you growing up
a defiant little girl
at the tender age of three
        alone
on that first journey
and a mothers worries

then and now
as ever will be

for that child, so small
who has now come to see
her own way in life

and the reality
of this very special day...

A single step taken
crossing over the line
into a time to travel
new life defined

by your dreams...

You, are loved now
as you were then
and I, shall be there

if and when
you should ever have the need

it is from these same bloodlines
and bonds through which
we bleed...

Although it may now seem
like a lifetime ago
still remembered

the smile,
the laugh...
and glow

of a butterfly now grown
ready to spread it's wings
embracing the future
and all that it brings.

Where ever you go;
what ever you may do
remember that you are much more
than just my niece...

you're a beautiful young woman
and I wish you happiness
and peace...

It shall never matter
where you may roam
for never will you be alone

a star will be shining
so that you will always see
the roads winding home
to family.

{love you Staci...}

Forgiving is not
forgetting, it is letting go of the pain...

She should wrap herself
in the love of this, Donna...

Beautiful.

thank you both, very much.  Quickly to explain, at the age of three she struck out on her own to the neighbors house a few houses away and well..
you can imagine the panic until a call was received stating that she was on a friends front porch playing with another child....

strong willed, defiant? yes...
but very, very loved...

congratulations on this milestone in your life Staci...

I will always be here for you...

A mother's love makes for a beautiful poem and I am sure she will treasure it.  Nicely done Donna.
