Waste Not ~ Linda L. Dowd ~
Fruits fall down from orchard trees, That were born from fertile soil, Enriched by nature’s sun and rain, And from the farmer’s toil.
Those cherries, peaches, apples, That lie about the grounds, Though they not be, still on the trees, Their sweetness still astounds.
When fruits fall down from orchard trees, Don’t leave them there to die. Pick them up and give your thanks, And bake a nice fruit pie!

When our children were little, every Fall we'd load them into the car and head out Rt. 2 West to pick apples. After about 10 minutes, the kids would tire of picking from the trees and would scour the ground for "the really good ones."
This tradition has continued to this day with the only difference being that now our daughter bakes the pies.

Marti ~
I have similar memories! I enjoyed going apple picking every year with my children.
~ and my daughter is the one who now bakes most of the pies!

(smiles) One thing I always love to do with fruit whenever it looks like it's close to becoming moldy or sitting around for a while is make a wonderful smoothie out of it, yay! (smiles) I always toss all the fruit in, and then add some spirulina, honey and bee pollen to give it additional flavor and nutrients, yay! This is beautiful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!
May love and light always shine upon you!
