emme,
the first words were yours
awkward and puerile
                         but true

an opened door
a window smashed
i knew it then

oh shackled star
oh hungry mouth

ten suns between us now

this is not longing
but i remember

and emme,
                         i'm sorry

You point it out "it is not longing, but I remember" and you remember so beautifully in these words, dear Raffaele!

emme come ... (come in italiano!)

Raph.....I don't understand the word "emme".  I looked it up and got a river in Switzerland and a model with that name.  Can you enlighten me?  I like the feel of the poem, except for not understanding the most important word.  Thanks!

thanks for the kind words everyone

martie, 'emme' simply sounds out the letter m(the first in the subject's name). though i titled this m, i felt simply using the letter within the poem lacked intimacy. emme was a natural fit, seeming like a name itself

Thanks for the explanation Raph...I had finally figured it out myself   I can see why you used the sound in letters instead of M.  So very good!

And another thing Martie...Aenimal has finally memorized the alphabet and learned the tune to twinkle twinkle little star...and he has a fine poem like this one about every letter too.....there's not a name of any gal that hasn't dropped his dead butt at some time or another....from A to Z....!!!.(You can see his current honey on his back (as usual) in his photo)..I will have to admit though, he's done quite a job on this one....

I just love it when you write! And it's 4:30 AM so I can't say much for fear of saying something too terribly weird, but I did want to reply.

not sure anyone could refuse an apology like this. You're brilliant, that's what I think. Yep... You are.

Now, gentle men....

LOL...

Raph?  Awesome job.  I was surprised to see "m" become "emme"...my granddaughter's name is Emily, and she is frequently called Emme by some of them...

and I had a sense of premonition that someday, someone might break her heart, but would come back with such a memory of their breakup...I don't know.  It just visualized itself for me, and in my mind, she grew up to be a very beautiful [although plucky] young lady...

thank you for this gift.  It's a
