Winter Does Not Slumber Inclemency has awakened, and well-known paths are new made, furrowed with iciness, and bucking for the chance to tumble youthful boot heels. This permafrost that owns pavement, has oozed up from the nadir, through loam, muck and uncharted adamantine, to arise like some sleepless giant, a god amongst men. Descend half-grown and eyeless into the obscure, and ‘tis there you will find his beginnings. The armed force of liquid that gathers in these buried grottos, that traces veiled arteries up to roadbed, pushing asphalt skyward with glacial fingers. They say there’s a reservoir in the recesses of the planet, a foundation of entombed hoarfrost that clasps frigid thoroughfares, and rends them as effortlessly as frozen water crushes the shivery, enshrouded hardwoods. (I can testify to that.) Winter does not slumber… for I have perceived it, when frost clefts soil, culls damage, a clandestine defiance, a sightless thing made savage, made divine. |

Very nice, Kevin There are reasons for permafrost, one is , so a poet might express their feelings about it, the other can remain unknown. But I am positive it has a reason, and we should fight to see that it remains.. No matter what the petro-kings say, lies protect their short term gains.... Global warming is a fact, and their ignorance is but a shield to assure them incresed fortunes. ----------ice ><> |

Brrrrrrrrrrr - after summer like days here, the temperatures dropped to the 30s - oy! One thing about the frosty king, though, even though I love the summer better - he sure is a handsome fellow Enjoyed this Kevin - Susan If I wander far enough, long enough, will I finally know . . . |
