The mist rises off the moon quiet and cool it dances with a scarf of palest pale moving to the songs of night It wraps earth with mystery and words hush to a whispered lullaby that feels the branches of the trees rock me no not like a mother I plead with the arms that hold me my eyes are closed but still I know you're there I have no sleep away from that certainty My body rocks to an inborn rhythm wild traitor to my heart's desire and all the pretty streetlights watch the way the landscape changes putting a halo on the sudden sully by the front door that is me Let me ride this pewter horse of sky into the place of dreams away from the weeping fence so that I can walk tangled into daylight running the window and sun's shadows dripping across my face |

No weeping fence, no wailing walls, just hopeful and unlimited expression. Enjoyed. |

The mist rises off the moon quiet and cool it dances with a scarf of palest pale moving to the songs of night This alone is perfect beauty, but you blessed the reader with more of your dancing voice. A pure joy to read. Love, Margherita |

Martie, As I read your poem, I could feel the power of the imagery and lullaby. I found myself, literally, swaying to the rhythm and words as I read parts. You write so tenderly and masterfully! I'm so glad you shared this. ~miscellanea |

Martie - so you got up and wrote like you said you would. Lots going on in this poem - you write it very well and it touches deeply - sometimes there is a lot happening while we try to get away from that fence...Paul |

Your words start with the lightest touch of endearing moments, as if feeling the night air play gently within strands of hair. But there is passion too, with the “inborn rhythm” and this beautiful description: “Let me ride this pewter horse of sky” The colors you create with this line are worthy of a painting.. Then the desire to leave the tears that even the darkness of night cannot hide, to dance in the sunlight… You fold a wealth of emotions in this poem, forgive me for my rambling. Beautiful write. |

It's hard to read, this poem....but so well done it's also hard not to. A poem of yours is always a magic carpet ride, but sometimes the ride goes through storms I wish you didn't have to weather. ~~J [This message has been edited by James_A_Fraser (04-24-2005 06:36 PM).] |

Martie A child of mother earth and father sky, The moon, holds us in her grip And tells us stories of certainties; Guiding our moods, and laughter of loons, And can bring to vision, weeping fences. Your poetry draws me into myself, and makes me closely self examine... ----------ice/ford ><> |

Martie: No words move us like those which show our longing for peace and beauty in our lives. You do this so well! Hugs Ken Through rubble and trouble and dark of night |

The mist rises off the moon quiet and cool it dances with a scarf of palest pale moving to the songs of night ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Let me ride this pewter horse of sky into the place of dreams away from the weeping fence so that I can walk tangled into daylight running the window and sun's shadows dripping across my face ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is classic Martie poetry... the imagery, the personification...the heart-light shining behind the words... Elegance of free verse defined. |

yes, it does, touch deeply, your images of nature that bring the reader into your realm are amazing...I find the night cold and univiting, but when I read this it makes me feel there is a whole world out there that I am numb to...sigh |
