Pure white as the driven snow
I am a baby seal
and I shall die
almost as soon as I cry

stain me red

stain me red said
the doomed small seal
as she tried to survive
the waters of earth

carry me away from the cruelty
the hatred that mankind has
for the likes of me
I cannot fathom the depths
of horror

stain me red

The human race and its actions leave much to be desired at times and we even do it to our own kind.

I may just have to club someone myself!

Hugs to each of you!

Raphie? you are not personally responsible for what your government has allowed, any more than I am responsible for the idiotic things my government has done. But both of us are embarassed, and often feel neutered/castrated emotionally/ environmentally, and politically.

I have been a hunter, and fisherman all of my life, and have taken the lives of many animals and fish.

But this is not hunting, this is slaughter.

I am sure no prayers are said for the  animals spirits, no pang of remorse is felt by the butchers, both of which are a true hunters reactions, on making a fair chase kill.

I certainly don't believe in killing purely for money.

Thank you for writing this, Kacy...

(big hugggsssssss) This is just a strong example to exactly how inhumane and unethical our governments can be! (sad sigh) This is exactly how others have said it is, it is slaughter, it's like genocide on animals somehow! (wipes tears) Killing hundreds of thousands of seals has no lasting benefit at all. It isn't sustainable. It isn't economically sound in a long-term process. And it certainly won't even help those who sponser these sorts of acts! (sad sigh) Those in the Canadian government who have allowed the authorization of this slaughter, including the Prime Minister himself, all have their blood on their hands and I believe regardless of politicial affliation or social stature, there is a widespread outrage here of this cruel act! (wipes tears) God Bless You, sweet friend, and bless those poor, innocent seals who are victim to this destructive nature, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kacy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Oh my.  I must say that I am moved.  As I have seen the cruelties placed on baby seals I am truly touched.  As a human being who has lived on this earth as a baby seal wondering when my time is to be murdered by a callous heart, I am deeply moved.  Masterful and passionate write.

And if they were hairless and homely with beady little eyes, how much concern would there be?
I don't mean in any way to make light of the issue, but this a "glamour species", and like the attention paid to drilling for oil in "protected" Alaska lands, there is so much more going on that gets no public attention.
I probably shouldn't be responding to this because I'll surely be misunderstood, but it is just so easy to care about something cute and then turn our backs on the rest.
Having said that, I mean no disrespect to your poetry, Midnitesun, I'm just feeling very frustrated tonight, as I'm sure you are, about what the human species is doing to its very home and its fellow inhabitants.

Stain me blue
so that I can swim
and feel the baby sky
Feel the innocense of white clouds
and know I'm still alive.

Shame the thinkers lame
Who act without a heart;

Midnitesun,

A very moving poetic statement!  Thanks.

glider, I have no problem with anything you wrote, as I also fight for the rights of even the beady-eyed low lifes. My co-workers laughed at me last week for insisting on sparing a spider...wanting to capture and put him outside in lieu of boot stomping.

This is seal kill is such a senseless mindless disgusting slaughter.

And if you could see how "wild" my postage stamp piece of property is, you would understand why my neighbors think I am nuts.

Yes, the seal business is indeed over the top.
