Its no easier to consider things sitting, shaded on the bank than it was while walking in the city Most nights, aimless and drunk reflecting neon back onto the streets No easier, merely quieter, calmer and safer there being less chance of being shaken from reverie by the sound of brakes trying hard not to run you over Today’s consideration is one I’ve visited before and lately, more and more often “Man”, a creature created in the image of God Versus “man”, the happy accident, evolving I, a man equally ignorant of both science and theology am, in no way, the one to resolve it But, the question remains What, if anything separates me from the beasts I share air with? The opposable thumb, I imagine is no more advantage to man, than the wing to a bird or the wolf, his sense of smell Nor, can I convince myself that humans are the only ones aware of their “being” or be certain that only we have philosophies All creatures sleep, eat, drink and couple each in their own fashion And though we humans overindulge each and seek to elevate the latter to the status of art like our animal brothers, we are slaves to biology So tonight I’ll decide that the key is in conscience the innate ability to know the right thing whether we choose to do it, or not The one thing biology cannot explain may be what sets us apart |

wranx We have gone from the elements of a star To the creation of the God Ptah. As the circles radiate to infinity. Enjoyed the read. |

Prose....yet not prose...something I've been working hard to get the balances for. This flows with the patterns of ordinary speech, even though it's much more. Well done! ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

a little cliched, and not up to the sharpness you usually have. and some one with training in both science and theology might suggest something, the we cannot YET explain many things is no surprise. But the growth of knowledge and the growth in its detail has been exponential since our species first became interested in such things. and that at least is encouraging. -majnu |

I think the 'everyman' approach to this and the fact that it doesn't seek to resolve the 'big' issues is what makes it work. Your conclusion isn't far from what theology would say. I was glad I opened the thread. |

Arguments many still thrive where one cannot prove beyond the other… I enjoyed how you start the poem off to bring the reader away from the city and to look at nature. To find a quiet spot in the world beyond the manmade realm is to wonder at the value of our presence, no greater than that of a leaf falling in the breeze. Enjoyed the read.. |

To ponder the depth and the mysteries of existence is what we are meant to do, I believe. And in surrendering to what is we will feel the oneness in which we all share. Well rendered. Love, Margherita |
