A friend is a friend in times of trouble,
A friend sees you safely ‘round the bend.
A friend sticks with you thru’ your battles,
A friend is by your side until the end.

A friend says the words to ease your hurting,
A friend lends an ear to hear you speak.
A friend lends a shoulder you can lean on,
A friend lends their strength when you are weak.

A friend will share in your laughter,
A friend will laugh at your jokes.
A friend joins in your favourite pastimes,
A friend is authentic ~ not a hoax.

A friend rejoices in your successes,
A friend always wants the best for you.
A friend won't reveal your inner secrets,
A friend can be trusted to be true.

A friend shares both up and down times,
A friend accepts you, as you are.
A friend understands how you are feeling,
A friend will be with you ~ near or far.

A friend is someone to cherish,
And they ~ you should also befriend.
All that they generously give you,
Should willingly be given to them.

Friendship is openly sharing,
One’s true self with those of others.
It’s the caring and treating of comrades,
As if they were sisters or brothers.
