She would say to those who asked, “Let heaven keep the stars” for now too old she has no needs, no wish to hold, see, feel, and the shame of yet another lie leaks more water from her eyes. With vision blurred she questions life, was it a moment, year, lifetime, just a dream dressed up as real, or merely flights of fantasy? It matters not, she still recalls the happening of all and more but there is no one left to ask, “What was it like to touch the stars?” If asked she may begin to cry or giggle like a teenage bride for words alone can’t make it known stars aren’t stars but rather soul. He stirred from sleep her energy and how it trembled happily until dismissed and told to go, he had no need to hold her soul. She would say to those who asked, “Let heaven keep the stars!” |
