Deep Breath then down And if I open my eyes I will see her swirl blue green From Halyard’s to Little Bend Lies ten miles of twists Flanked by high banks cut in soft From ages of spring flood And halfway between the lady blue Has cut away soft limestone And left an overhang With deep green water “Here we climbed steep rock by hanging on to spare cedar hoping always we would not slip and end in barked shin or curses as I followed you and let the curve of your leg entice my eyes to be careless.” We stopped this time The years gone when hot blood Matched August days And simply soaked in cool Then lay against smooth stone To let the sun and breeze dry skin. I pulled the journal then And wrote but a few words about how it was To return to this place But crossed the lines in black And simply put it aside Relishing the now The moment Later when we made camp You stared off to the sky Counting stars Or remembering lovers And I wrote “ If man is but the sum of atoms contained in his cells then we are short the elements of divinity and lack inside the means to understand how it is even a glance from someone such as you, can cause me to sigh and wonder what it was like to touch you then when there were not stretches of lost, forevermore” |

“Here we climbed steep rock by hanging on to spare cedar hoping always we would not slip and end in barked shin or curses as I followed you and let the curve of your leg entice my eyes to be careless.” ....dang!! and then I read... "to understand how it is even a glance from someone such as you, can cause me to sigh and wonder what it was like to touch you then when there were not stretches of lost, forevermore” Remarkable...absolutely remarkable. LOL...can you tell I'm speechless? |

Poetry is emotion put into measure. |

One question here? Is it better to read them all when you are done? I don't want my train of thought interrupted. By the way our boat was made by Halyards, and was the best vessel we owned over those wonderful years. So I wait? Read them one by one or all together when you are done, if you ever are? I wish I could write as well as you, as I was not kidding that the years sailing to Mercer Island were the best of my life. So? |
