I reach into the nothingness,
Searching to find him there.
But the night holds no promises,
Beyond the bleak and bare.

I call his name in to the void,
And pray that he’ll reply.
But all I hear is the silence,
With no answers to my, “Why?”

A handsome couple we once made,
~ Heads would turn in envy.
But one woman was not enough,
So he opted for a bevy.

I gave to him the all of me,
And became his loving wife.
His any wish was my command,
As I gave to him my life.

He claimed that I was “perfect”
In every single way,
That he knew that he was fortunate,
But the field he liked to play.

Recklessly he wagered all,
For the kicks of someone new.
Risk had been his drug of choice,
But it turned our life askew.

The first time I forgave him,
The second time I cried.
The third caused devastation,
And the fourth I nearly died.

I had felt so vulnerable,
For I’d lost all sense of worth.
I closed my eyes so I wouldn’t see
~ Yet my pain still grew in girth.

In ways I’m glad it’s over
For now I clearly see,
That living life for someone else,
Had led to the loss of me.

No longer do I call his name,
In the middle of the night.
For I have grown and found myself
And live my inner Light.

It takes a lot of strength to find that inner light at times. Great work Linda. Keep your head up!

Hi, sky!

I am soooo happy to have this well-behind me. Sometimes life dishes out some pretty unpalatable medicine! ~ but they truly are opportunities to grow.

Instead of rolling over and dying (like I felt at the time), I pulled myself up by the bootstraps and found out what I was really made of! ~ and what I found, was more than I could have imagined! I am happier than I have ever been in my entire life!

Ah Linda - we are all so imperfect and longing for that something that sometimes seems just out of reach - I am so happy for you, to have found yourself -

Hugs - Susan

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

Linda, I know how it is to lose ones self. I had been searching for the real me, since I grew up and left home. Then, I met my husband, and lost what I had found. It seems to be an easy thing to do, when you are so in love.

Earth Angel,
This will stay in my heart.  I'm glad that after all the challenges, you were able to have something positive come from the difficult times.  I'd like to keep this.

Sweet Sue ~

Yes, it hurts beyond measure when that love is taken away. I have learned that if you love yourself, you have no fear of losing it!

Earth Angel, I am so glad the real you came out to blossom!  Your words here are so true...and so many of us do this (lose ourselves) only to wake up later and reclaim us, older and wiser, of course!   and LOVE ........jo

I read this now again now that it's come back around -

what a good example you set - to become whole within yourself - a worthy goal for us all - for if we love and are settled within ourselves - think of all the energy we then have to spend on loving others -

Hugs lady of light -

Earth Angel,
Glad to surprise you!  I admit that I wanted to bring forth an older one because it always seems like my old ones go to dust before my much worse newer ones!  I just had to check out your closet on 34!  It is heartfelt.
